Mental Health First Aid is the help offered to someone experiencing a mental health issue or crisis. By taking one of our MHFA courses you’ll be qualified to provide the necessary support at a crucial time. You will also learn how to raise awareness of mental health issues, and promote good mental health in your community.

Mental Health First Aider Course - Online

Overview

A Mental Health First Aider Certificate is the most comprehensive course in the MHFA England portfolio. It requires completion of a two-day virtual course. The content is a mixture of presentations, discussions, and group activities. A workbook and MHFA Manual are supplied as part of the course fees – both will be sent to your home address.

Anyone over the age of 16 can attend an MHFA England course but an interest in mental health and wellbeing is desirable. When you have completed the course, you will receive:

  • Certificate of attendance to say you are a Mental Health First Aider.
  • A comprehensive manual to refer to whenever you need it.
  • A quick reference card for the Mental Health First Aid action plan.
  • A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health.

This is an online course delivered through the MHFA England Online Learning Hub.

Learning takes place across 2 weeks, and consists of four live training sessions, each with a complementary self-learning activity. Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan. See below for a detailed course structure.

We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported whilst they learn.

This concise but essential course is suitable for everyone. It’s particularly popular with line managers wanting to roll out mental health best practice in the workplace.

It requires completion of a one-day classroom-based course. The content is a mixture of presentations, discussions, and group activities.

A 4-hour introductory course designed to increase mental health awareness and give an understanding of how to look after wellbeing and challenge stigma.

Anyone over the age of 16 can attend an MHFA England course but an interest in mental health and wellbeing is desirable. When you have completed the course, you will receive:

  • Certificate of attendance to say you are a Mental Health First Aid Champion.
  • A manual to refer to whenever you need it.
  • A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health.

This course will also gives you confidence to support someone in distress, or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

The session is delivered through a mix of group activities, presentations, and discussion. When you complete your course, you will get a certificate of attendance and an MHFA manual to keep and refer to.

Overview

If you are a Mental Health First Aider or MHFA Champion, you have skills for life that can support you and the people around you.

We believe that mental health should be valued as equally as physical health. And just like physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid training should be kept up to date.

Anyone over the age of 16 can attend an MHFA England course but an interest in mental health and wellbeing is desirable. When you have completed the course, you will receive:

  • Certificate of attendance to say you have attended a refresher course.
  • A manual/workbook to refer to whenever you need it.

How often should MHFA England skills be refreshed?

We recommend that Mental Health First Aiders and MHFA Champions attend a Refresher course every three years.

If it’s time to refresh your skills, book onto an MHFA Refresher course now and feel confident that you are performing your vital role safely.

Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.

Please note that the MHFA Refresher is only for people who have completed an Adult MHFA Two Day or One Day, or Armed Forces MHFA Two Day course.
